France vs Ireland match will take place at Parc des Princes

France vs Irlande: the French national football team will host the Republic of Ireland on September 7th at Parc des Princes for the Euro 2024 qualifiers, rather than at the Stade de France, which has been reserved for the 2023 Rugby World Cup, as revealed by the Federation's schedule unveiled on Thursday.

Only one match for the French team is scheduled at the Stade de France next season, their usual home in Saint-Denis, where renovation work is planned in preparation for the 2024 Summer Olympics.

This match will be against Gibraltar on November 16, 2023, for the Euro qualifiers, if the current schedule is adhered to. The renovation work is set to begin in December.

Therefore, the runners-up of the World Cup will kick off their 2023-2024 season at Parc des Princes and not at the Stade de France, an 80,000-seat venue already booked for September due to the Rugby World Cup taking place in France.

Parc des Princes, the former home of the French national team until 1997, last hosted a match for the French team in November 2021 against Kazakhstan (8-0), a World Cup 2022 qualifier.

In addition to Paris, five other cities will have the privilege of hosting Kylian Mbappé and his teammates: Lille on October 17th for a friendly match, Lyon and Marseille in March 2024 for friendlies or Euro 2024 qualifiers, and Bordeaux and Metz for friendly matches.

This decision was made by the Executive Committee of the French Football Federation (FFF) on Thursday, following a consultation launched in March. According to a federation statement, "Thirty-one cities applied to host an international match" for the men's, women's, and youth national teams.

"This consultation reflects the appeal of our national teams, and we are delighted about it. They will play in front of their fans across the entire country, as ten regional leagues in mainland France out of thirteen will be involved," said Philippe Diallo, interim president of the FFF.

Next season, the French women's national team will play in Valenciennes, Reims, Rennes, Sochaux, Metz, and Saint-Etienne. Unlike the men's team, the women's team doesn't have a dedicated stadium.

As for the youth national teams, they will visit Nancy, Grenoble, Le Havre, Châteauroux, and Sochaux.
